Approach & Methodology

My therapeutic approach is authentic, personable, and relational. As an integrated and holistic practitioner, I address the whole person—mind, body, and soul—considering their environment and unique needs. I combine talk therapies with holistic methods such as mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, sound, movement, nature-based practices, play, and humour (of course!).

In line with the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment
of Acute Stress Disorder, PTSD, and Complex PTSD,
I use the following therapeutic modalities:

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT);
Cognitive Therapy (Trauma-Focused) (CT);
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT);
Prolonged Exposure (PE);
Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Additionally, I work with Schema Therapy, Polyvagal Theory,
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and eating disorder-specific therapies
(including CBT-E, MANTRA, SSCM, etc).

I use clinical judgement to select appropriate interventions in the context of each person’s unique circumstances, and often collaborate with other healthcare professionals for comprehensive, evidence-based care. Trauma often does not ‘live alone’, and so I welcome people with co-morbid physical and mental health concerns, including suicidality, depression, anxiety, OCD, substance use, dissociative disorders, and eating disorders.

In this session we
work together to gain a good understanding of the reasons you've reached out, and I will spend time listening and working out how I can help.
1.5 hours
3.
Assessment
of "the problem".
We might use some psychological questionnaires to gain a deeper understanding of the things you're dealing with so that we can design a way forward that fits best. This might include diagnosis, but doesn't have to.

4.

Building a plan for recovery, together.

This is undertaken as part of the initial session and the assessment process.
